23. List your top 5 hobbies and why you love them.

  • Reading
I never thought that I would love to read, but I do. That’s probably not something that you would think you would hear from an English Major, but it’s true. It took me a while to grow an appreciation for reading. I think that is because I viewed reading as something that I had to do – mainly for classes. I was reading what I was told to read. Once I started branching out and reading books on my own that interested me, I really started to love reading!
  • Painting
Painting is another thing that I have grown to love. You know that story if you’ve been following me. My sister in law invited me to a painting class, and I fell in love with it. I saw, for the first time, that painting is not nearly as difficult as I once thought. I actually have been chomping at the bits to do some more painting. Hopefully I’ll be able to get something cranked out soon.
  • Pinterest
Is that a hobby? I don’t know if it really classifies as one, but I’m going to. I definitely spend a lot of time on Pinterest and attribute a lot of new things in my life to it – new recipes, decorating tips, craft ideas, organizational tools, etc. Pinterest never ceases to amaze me! I love the great ideas and feel very accomplished when I complete one! I wish I had a dime for every time I’ve said, “I saw that on Pinterest.”
  • Cooking
I love to cook and wish I did it more. I’ll give props to my mom and grandmothers for that. I definitely learned from the best! I love to try new recipes as well as make the “oldy-goldy” favorites. I love to figure out what works and what doesn’t. I love to make up my own recipes (that comes from my dad – just think “Miller Surprise”).
  • Working Out
Again, I’m not sure if this is REALLY a hobby, but it is definitely something that I do on a regular basis. Like I have mentioned in the past, David and I have been members of a local gym for about a year and a half, and Savannah has been my hard-core work out partner now for about 6 months. Sav and I are doing two classes in the week – Rush Power (1 hour of weight lifting) and Rush Core (30 mins of core workout) and then do some work on our own the other days. She and I have both lost a good bit of weight in the last few years and are working hard now to tone everything else. I keep looking for the day when I will not be so sore after these workouts, but so far that hasn’t happened yet.
